Mostly due to man's pollution and the massive increases in populations we see across the globe

That's allot more mouths to feed with very little farmland
So they send out fleets to over harvest the fish, suck the aquifers dry and drain the rivers to produce what little food this desert can provide
All across the world we are seeing this
Rivers Are Running Dry, Marshes Die, Fish Die - and a way of life supported for centuries is permanently eliminated as people get sicker and sicker
